Ordering a Smartbox
How big is a Smartbox?
The outside of a Smartbox is approximately 3m long by 1.8m wide and 2.4m high. The internal measurements are slightly less measuring approximately 2.9m long by 1.8m wide and 2.1m high. You can generally fit all the belongings from a 1 - 2 bedroom home into one Smartbox. See our how it works page for more information.
For business storage you can load up to 1400kgs into each Smartbox - approximately 85 standard size archive boxes, full of paper.

How much does storage cost?
Storage starts from just $5 per day. See our pricing and locations page for more information on pricing. A minimum charge of $200.00 applies to storage of 1 month or less.
I want to use a Smartbox for 2.5 months - what will I be charged?
Everybody is charged one month in advance on confirmation of their booking. This will equate to $182.50 up front if you are on the "less than 6 month" rate or $152.00 if you are under the "greater than 6 month" rate. All Smartbox storers are charged on the 1st business day of each month for the full month ahead. Your 2nd and 3rd month will be charged to either your nominated credit card or bank account (via direct debit) on the 1st business day of the month. At the end of your storage term (charged up to and including the day we receive the empty Smartbox back to our facility), we refund you for any remaining unused storage days along with your storage bond. In short, any part months (after the first month's storage) are charged at the daily rate of $5 or $6 per day. For example, if you are only in storage for 15 of 30 days, we would refund you 16 days.
What locations in Auckland is Smartbox available?
Smartbox delivers to most areas in the main Auckland urban area from Albany to Papakura and Whitford to Massey. (Extra costs may apply if you live on an offshore island or outside the Smartbox Auckland area. Please contact us to check.)

Getting the Smartbox delivered
You can have as many Smartboxes as you need. We'll bring the secure storage unit (Smartbox) right to you.
Where does Smartbox deliver to?

My belongings are at several locations, how do I organise that?
We can send your Smartboxes to different places (Please call us on 0800 225 576 to check).
Packing and pick up
How much time do I have to pack my Smartbox?
You have up to two days to pack your Smartbox, then we'll collect it from you.
How do I access my Smartbox to pack it?
Your Smartbox is easy to access, there are no slippery surfaces. The Smartbox floor is just 40cm off the ground and comes with a small, easy in-built ramp.
How do I lock my Smartbox?
When you've finished packing, just lock the Smartbox - We can supply padlocks or you can provide your own. Either way, you'll be the only one with access to the key, as you are the only keyholder.

What if I find I need another Smartbox?
No problem. If you need another Smartbox, contact us and we'll drop one off for you.
Are there items that I cannot store in a Smartbox?
Yes there are some items that you are prohibited from storing in a Smartbox. These include perishables, flammables and liquids. See our prohibited items page for more information.

The Smartbox storage facility
Where is the Smartbox storage facility?
Your Smartbox is stored at our secure storage facility at 13 Sultan St, Ellerslie, Auckland.
What are Smartbox's open hours?
You are always more than welcome to visit us to see our operation or to access your Smartbox.
If you want to get something out of your Smartbox, please call and book a time so that we can ensure your Smartbox is ready for you in our unloading bay.
Our opening hours are:
- Monday to Friday : 7am - 5 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 8am-4pm
- Closed on public holidays (unless prior arrangements / bookings made)
How long can I have my Smartbox stored for?
We can take care of your Smartbox for as long as you like. It will be locked in our secure storage facility until you need it back.
